Sassy

My other cat Sassy – she is a lassy –

such a pretty girl – she took her claws –

and dug holes in the walls –

she thinks – she is a squirrel

So I put her outside – where the squirrels do reside –

that means where they live –

when she had got done – she had plenty of fun –

that squirrel had a whole lot to give

One squirrel said “ See – you’re a pussy cat to me –

that’s really not a treat –

when hungry you get – I’m willing to bet –

I’m one of those things you eat”

sassy meets the squirrelSassy said back – “As a matter of fact –

I’ve eaten a squirrel or two –

but no need to worry – I’m not in a hurry –

besides, they were smaller than you”

The squirrel looked at her – like she’d lost all her fur –

and said “Please -don’t eat me today –

not here, not there – not anywhere –

no how, no time, no way”

Sassy’s reply – with a tear in her eye –

was really kinda sad –

He made it clear – I’m staying out here –

he was so very mad”

Now, that squirrel won’t too smart – but had a big heart –

and felt bad for the pussy cat –

If out here you must stay – until you’re hungry I’ll play –

please let me know about that”

So off together they went – with honest intent –

to just have some fun – and play –

run up a few trees – and feel the soft breeze –

and enjoy the rest of the day

Strange it does seem – just like a dream –

the squirrel and the pussy cat –

though very different – they had a great day –

there is nothing wrong with that

Difference it seems – is just like the cream –

it’s better than the coffee –

to the top it will rise – it’ll open your eyes –

and turn caramel into to toffee
